Yva

Yva, real name Else Ernestine Neuländer-Simon, was born in Berlin in 1900. As the youngest child of nine siblings, she grew up in 19th century Berlin.
Due to her Jewish origins, she was banned from working from 1938. She probably died in 1942 in the Sobibor extermination camp, to which she was deported with her husband Alfred Simon.

Early years and career start
In the 1925s, Yva founded her own photo studio in Friedrich-Wilhelmstrasse in Berlin. She moved her studio several times within Berlin.
Her photographic focus was on nude and fashion photography. Her pictures appeared in various renowned newspapers of the time, such as the Berliner Illusrtirte Zeitung and Die Dame. She has worked for Ullstein Verlag since 1929.
