Collection: Roger Viollet

The Roger Viollet photo agency, founded in 1938 by Hélène Roger-Viollet and Jean-Victor Fischer in Paris, is one of the oldest and most prestigious photo agencies in the world. It houses over two million photographs documenting the history and culture of France as well as significant international events. The origins of the agency date back to the 19th century when Hélène's father, Henri Roger, and his brother, Ernest, experimented with photographic effects. After World War II, the agency expanded its collection by acquiring photographs from various sources. Today, Roger Viollet offers both historical and modern works and regularly organizes exhibitions. The agency is part of Delta Arts, an organization dedicated to promoting art and culture, which supports Roger Viollet in managing and presenting its collection.

New to the ullstein bild collection are the musician portraits by Christian Rose.
